What was the inspiration behind your branding?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we first got started, we were all about the \u2018shabby chic\u2019 vibe. Woodgrain, chalkboards, and TONS of flowers! That\u2019s what inspired our logo and the design of our website and storefronts. We loved the classy and southern vibes, and as we grew and started sharing some of [our] humor through cookies and social media, we quickly grabbed onto our phrase \u2018mostly sweet and a little bit sassy.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Why do you think your business has had so much media success?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI like to say it was all a fluke\u2014the right people saw it at the right time. But I know, overall, it\u2019s been a God thing. He has taken care of us in times we didn\u2019t think we would get through! I also think because we are quick to jump on a trend or start our own. Thinking of ways to modernize the bakery business in ways no one has done yet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tell us about your cookbook, \u201cSweet Talk Cookies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe worked on the cookbook for over a year, starting in 2019. If you asked my dad, the process was like pulling teeth. I\u2019m quite the procrastinator, and he and the editor were on me to meet deadlines a lot of the time, but that\u2019s my creative side showing. I don\u2019t work the best with rigid schedules! But it was a ton of fun when it finally came together and we got to take all the pictures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you decide what to post on Instagram?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve actually found that the more \u2018organic\u2019 shots get the most reach. I spent so much time setting up backgrounds with a ring light and little props. And then the next day I would just take a quick photo with my iPhone of a cookie on a tray, and it would get way more interaction. I think maybe it seems more approachable or relatable, like something \u2018behind the scenes\u2019 when everyone else is making staged photos. Usually, we just shoot and post what we are making that day, or whatever holiday is coming up to promote the sale of certain things. But, most importantly, if there\u2019s a current meme going viral, we prioritize cookie-fying that above all!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Has your online ordering system impacted how you do business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt has totally been the only way we survived. I think everyone in the world has moved to a \u2018click and buy\u2019 mentality. They see it, they want to buy it right then. Having a way to connect social media and random followers to our website creates new customers that we wouldn\u2019t have gotten by a simple walk-in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you think is the best part about being a small business in Texas?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe best part of being a small business in Texas is the friendly Texans! There just aren\u2019t these kinds of people anywhere else. After all, the Texas moto is friendship!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
