Setting Up Netscape to Check Your POP Email
If you prefer to use Netscape Mail to check your POP email, these instructions will help guide you through the process. Please note that some versions of Netscape may have slightly different methods for performing these tasks, or menu options may be located in different areas of the browser. If these instructions do not match your version of Netscape, please consult your Netscape documentation for more information.
Note: Netscape typically limits the number of POP email accounts that you may setup to only one. If you currently have a different email account setup in your Netscape Mail, you will need to edit and replace that information with your new POP account. If you prefer not to do this, we suggest you consider an alternative email program that allows you to check multiple email accounts.
Select the "Edit" menu at the top of the Netscape browser. Then choose Preferences. In the list of options at the left, select Mail and Newsgroups to display additional choices. To edit settings for a new POP email account, choose Identity.
Enter your preferred name in the "Your Name" field. Enter the entire email address you wish to check in the "Email address" field, such as john@mydomain.com. Enter your "reply-to" email address also.
Next, select Mail Servers from the left-hand menu choices. If you currently have an existing email account server setup, highlight it and click the "Edit" button. If you are setting up a server for the first time, click "Add". The name specified for the server should be the domain name of your website with Webii, such as mydomain.com. For server type, select the option for "POP3 Server". For username, enter the part of your email address that is before the @ sign (for example, the username for jane@webii.net is jane).
Enter your preference for how often Netscape should check your email, and click the OK button.
After you have returned to the Mail Servers window, you will need to update the settings for Outgoing Mail Server. For "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" and "Outgoing mail server username", you should enter the information provided by your ISP (Internet connection provider). This might be something like mail.swbell.net or pop.myisp.com. If you are unsure what the correct Outgoing server information is, please contact your ISP. If your ISP does not provide SMTP/Outgoing mail services, please click here.
You may also specify other preferences in Netscape that relate to your email, such as "Disk Space". To learn more about these settings, please consult your Netscape documentation or support resources.
